From the time she was a child, education has been a big part of Madison Badurski’s life, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Rockin’ Jump Myrtle Beach’s April Teacher of the Month is excelling in her role as a fourth grade teacher.
As the school year winds to a close, we caught up with Badurski, now in her third year as a teacher at Lakewood Elementary, to discuss what makes her career so rewarding.
What led you into teaching and what continues to motivate you?
From the time I was a little girl I knew I wanted to be a teacher. My parents and grandparents have always been in education, and I knew I wanted to be a part of education when I grew up. My students motivate me every day. The things that they are accomplishing is nothing short of incredible and being able to celebrate their successes with them is the best part of my job. It is such a rewarding career.
What was your reaction to winning the award?
I was so surprised to win the award. I was not expecting it at all and the reaction of my students made it even more exciting. It is so nice that local businesses are supporting local teachers.
What was the reaction of your class?
They couldn’t believe it! There was a lot of clapping and jumping, followed by everyone asking if we could plan a day to go as a class.
Have you been to Rockin Jump before? If so, what was your experience like?
I have been to Rockin Jump many times and I love the atmosphere. Children are always so happy to be there.
What do you find most rewarding about being a teacher?
There are so many rewarding parts of teaching. Seeing my students grow and show a love for learning is the most rewarding part of teaching for me. There is nothing I love more than seeing students excited to be at school.
Outside of the classroom, what are some of your interests?
I spend a lot of time outdoors. My husband and I have 3 dogs and spend a lot of time camping or on the boat fishing.
