Finding fun things to do near me for the family to enjoy isn’t always easy. If you have kids of all ages, it can be impossible to find activities everyone will love. Even with one child, it can sometimes feel like a chore to find new, interesting things to do. Of course, you’ll also need to consider budget and time constraints. Then, add on the fact that North Carolina weather can ruin anything outside.

The struggle is real! As parents, we want to spend quality family time together, but it can sometimes feel unmanageable.

Instead of stressing out, come to Rockin’ Jump. We’re an activity all ages can get behind (and best of all, without breaking the bank). Plus, at Rockin’ Jump, you never have to worry about the weather. Our trampoline park is 100% indoors. So, extreme heat, cold temperatures, and rain do not slow down the fun at our facility.

We hope to see you at Rockin’ Jump soon. However, no matter where you go or what you do as a family, you can use the following five tips to make the most of your time together!

Start by Choosing Activities That Fill Your Kids with Confidence

Nothing kills a family outing quicker than a kid in a foul mood. Sometimes, kids don’t want to do a certain activity because they don’t feel confident. You might you have a younger child who is worried about getting hurt. Maybe you have an older child who isn’t confident about fitting in. A tween or teen could be embarrassed about an activity they feel is too “young” for them.

Here at Rockin’ Jump, we help to instill confidences in kids of all ages. Our goal is to help you have fun as a family by creating an environment that is comfortable for all ages.

For younger jumpers, we have “Under-6” zones where they can learn to jump safely. These areas are restricted, so older kids won’t get too rambunctious. We even host Rockin’ Tots every week. At Rockin’ Tots, we close the entire facility to older jumpers. This allows new jumpers to gain their footing. You’ll watch their confidence grow before your eyes.

Older kids, tweens, and teens may feel more confident by bringing a friend. Rockin’ Jump prices are low enough to make this possible. Let’s face it; adding guests to a day at an amusement park or water park can stress the budget. Here, you’ll find that an extra ticket is affordable. So, go ahead an invite a friend! We also facilitate playing together through games of dodge ball, pairing individuals for our X-beam challenge, and more. At Rockin’ Jump, we make meeting new friends easy.

Spend the Right Amount of Time Together

Some parents find that forcing the kids to spend time together only exacerbates issues. Siblings don’t always get along, which can make a day together very stressful.

Instead, try spending just an hour or two together. Family time doesn’t have to be all day. At Rockin’ Jump, you can certainly buy an all-day pass if you’re having too much fun to leave. However, we also sell tickets in 60-minute and 90-minute blocks.

Our facility is also big enough for kids to have a little space. Obviously, you want to spend time together, but with so many activities, kids can take a break from one another when they need it. Here are just a handful of the zones and attractions you can check out during your visit:

  • Double Slingshot – fly high into the air as you and a friend jump to heights of up to 20 feet
  • Parkour Blox – hurdle over foam vaults to increase speed and strength
  • Stunt Bag Arena – practice new flips and jumps in a safe environment
  • Lazer Frenzy – navigate our laser maze like a secret agent or spy
  • Slam Dunk Zone – emulate your favorite NBA player by making perfect dunks
  • X-Beam – battle friends with padded lances in this fun game

We also have a rock-climbing wall, arcade, interactive play zone, and more. If you need a break from jumping, you can enjoy one of these activities before heading back to the variety of trampoline arenas.

Exercise Together at Rockin’ Jump

It can be hard to find time to spend together. You and your spouse may work eight or more hours per day. On top of that, you have household responsibilities to handle. Most adults also need seven to nine hours of sleep to stay healthy. Even your kids have busy lives between school, homework, and extracurricular activities. How is a busy family supposed to spend time together?

One easy way to spend time together is to exercise as a family. Doctor Edward R. Laskowski from the Mayo Clinic suggestions that you should aim for 30 minutes of exercise per day. Instead of running in your neighborhood or going to spin class, bring the kids here! At Rockin’ Jump, everyone can get their heart pumping. According to some reports, you’ll even burn more calories jumping than you would jogging. Read more about the health benefits here. The great thing is that your family will be having so much fun, they won’t realize that they are getting some important exercise!

Keep in mind that at our park, you also don’t have to worry about the weather impeding your fitness. Outdoor parks and playgrounds can be a great form of exercise. However, in the summer, the heat can be intense and even dangerous. In the winter, you’ll deal with extreme cold temperatures and ice. Of course, all year long, precipitation can hamper your fun. At Rockin’ Jump, our activities are completely indoors to prevent weather-related issues.

Not only is our park a great place to exercise, but we’re an affordable way to create good habits. Kids learn from parents and other close adults. If working out together is a daily activity, the habit will stick with them for a lifetime.

Luckily, working out daily at Rockin’ Jump is easy through our memberships. With a membership, you have access to jump every day at no additional cost. Simply walk in whenever it is convenient for you. Members can jump during any open jump time, up to two hours per day. We offer 30-day and 90-day members, starting at just $50. If you jump daily, this is a huge savings! You can learn more about our memberships here.

Make Fun Things to Do Near Me with Your Family a Priority

Kids quickly realize when they are not a priority. Yet, many parents subconsciously send this message to their family every day. It can be damaging to prioritize work over your kids. Have you ever done any of the following?

  • Canceled a planned outing due to work
  • Spent time on your phone answering work emails during family time
  • Worked late instead of attending an event important to your kids
  • Shown up late to a sports game, recital, etc. due to work
  • Told your family you were too tired to do something together after work

This is not to guilt you. As parents, we sometimes need to make tough decisions. After all, without a job, you can’t support your family. The problem develops when work is always prioritized over family time. Sometimes, work will interfere with family time, but it’s important to limit those instances as much as possible.

Here are a few ways you can start to prioritize family time more:

  • Schedule time together. Write your next trip to Rockin’ Jump on the calendar and even buy tickets in advance. Stick to this schedule even if something “comes up” at work. Make sure that your co-workers and boss know that you have a family commitment on certain days.
  • Make sure that you balance busy days with less busy days. Almost every workplace has busy times of year when you might need to work overtime. However, keep in mind that there should be a cycle. In other words, for every day you work four hours later, there should be a day when you can leave work early.
  • Look for alternative work schedules. Sometimes, employers are flexible. You might be able to start your workday earlier in order to leave earlier. On the other hand, you might be able to do some work from home. Talk to your boss to see what is possible. The worst they can say is no.
  • Have a family ban on work during family time. Whether you are at Rockin’ Jump or simply having dinner together, have at least a 30-minute block of time every day when cell phones are banned (except for emergencies of course). Use this time to check in with your family. Talk about the day, make upcoming plans, and work out problems.

Prioritizing fun things to do near me as a family over work is not always easy. You don’t have to be perfect. The important thing is that you try. Kids can tell when you are doing your best to make your family time a priority.

Plan Fun Family Time, not Family Time as a Demand

Lastly, keep in mind that family time should never be framed as a demand. As kids grow, it can be harder and harder to find fun things to do near me. What teen wants to spend an evening or day with their family? However, keep in mind that the goal here is to spend time together making fun memories. Family time isn’t super beneficial if you are just in the same room together, but not actually enjoying it.

We always recommend a fun activity that makes the whole family excited. You want a day (or even an hour) together to be a positive experience. Rockin’ Jump is a great way to interact with kids. It’s impossible to get bored at our park. In addition, our activities are great for strengthening bonds. You can compete against one another at our X-beam game for example. Or, race to the top of the rock wall. Even taking a break for a game in the arcade is a great way to interact.

Why Rockin’ Jump?

First of all, we want you to have a local place that you can reach easily, without having to pay a lot and drive for hours to go to a theme park! We have two convenient locations in the Piedmont Triad…one in Greensboro and one in Winston-Salem. Visitors can enjoy a local and unique experience without spending a fortune. Are you having visitors from out of town? Rockin’ Jump is a great place to take them for a fun afternoon or evening! With our wide variety of activities, there is something for everyone. Those who may prefer to watch the others have fun can relax in massage chairs. We want everyone to look forward to their experience at Rockin’ Jump! Visit often and enjoy our special place!

Worried about safety and cleanliness? No worries at Rockin’ Jump! Our staff is trained to ensure that all guests are jumping safely. We have a JumpSafe™ program to train our staff members and there is a monitor overseeing every area of the park at all times, to keep jumpers safe. We restrict the number of jumpers in each area, so there is never a crowd in any section. Another priority is cleanliness of the park. Every area is kept clean and sanitary to meet our high standards. These are our 2 most important priorities. Visitors should feel safe and confident that they can enjoy their time here without any concerns.

When you plan something fun to do, rather than just scheduling an empty block of family time, your kids will begin to look forward to spending time together. You can even decide what to do together as a family. Come up with a list of ideas of things to do, such as coming to Rockin’ Jump for an afternoon. Then, go over the list together during a family meeting. What are your kids most interested in doing? Cross things off the list if your kids don’t seem excited. Ask them for ideas too. Everyone in your family should look forward to spending time together.
